Shenyang Sinochem Agrochemicals R&D Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Agrochemicals R&D；the predecessor of Pesticide Research Institute of Shenyang Research Institute of Chemical Industry) is an agrochemicals research & development institution with complete equipment engaged in design and synthesis of new compounds, development of production process technology, processing of agrochemicals formulation and biological activity assay, etc., which is a professional agrochemicals research institution with large scale in China. The Company presently owns 114 R&D personnel, including 16 professor-level senior engineers, 60 senior engineers, 20 with doctorates, 62 with master degrees, 4 senior research fellows of Sinochem Group and 4 with Special Government Allowances of the State Council.

Since the 1980s, the Agrochemicals R&D has been always the key undertaker of international scientific and technological support program, during the national “6th Five-Year Plan” to the “12th Five-Year Plan”, it has undertaken discovery of a lot of novel pesticides and associated programs, applied over 500 invention patents at home and abroad and made huge contribution to the development of Chinese pesticide engineering. The production technologies of many backbone pesticide varieties in China are from the Agrochemicals R&D at present, such as herbicide mancozeb; insecticide dimehypo, Pyridaben, chlorpyrifos. The pesticide research program undertaken obtains over 100 national and provincial level awards, including 2 second prizes of national invention awards, 6 first prizes of provincial level invention awards, 1 patent gold medal and 5 patent excellence awards.
 
The novel pesticide discovery level of the Agrochemicals R&D takes a leading position in China, and the Agrochemicals R&D has obtained remarkable achievements. It invented flumorph, pyrisoxazole, enestroburin, fenaminstrobin, coumoxystrobin, pyraoxystrobin, pyrametostrobin, tetrachlorantraniliprole, SYP-9625, etc. A complete pesticide R&D system has been built in China at present, capable of carrying out synthesis of compound, bioassay screening, process study, formulation study, application technology study, etc. A batch of professional talents on discovery of novel pesticide and development of novel pesticide variety has been cultivated, and many of them have become the domestic academic leaders.

The Agrochemicals R&D owns state key laboratory of novel pesticide innovation and development which is the first national key laboratory of the Ministry of Science and Technology with the main study content of discovering and developing novel pesticide; also the relying unit of the National Pesticide Engineering Research Center (Shenyang), Pesticide Professional Committee of the Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China, National General Pesticide Information Station, sponsoring and publishing the Chinese core journal Pesticide.
